History

First documented mention of Rečica ob Savinji, with the establishment of a parish and the construction of the Church of St. Cantius.

During the Napoleonic Wars, the region briefly becomes part of the French-administered Illyrian Provinces.
After World War I, Rečica ob Savinji becomes part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia).

Slovenia declares independence from Yugoslavia; Rečica ob Savinji becomes part of the new republic.
