Ajdovi žganci
A hearty buckwheat spoonbread, often served alongside sauerkraut, sausages, or stews. It’s a staple in the mountain villages of Kranjska Gora.
Kranjska klobasa
A traditional Carniolan sausage made of pork and bacon, seasoned with garlic and pepper, and typically served with mustard and bread.
Jota

Blejska kremšnita

What to visit?
History
The area is inhabited by Illyrian and Celtic tribes, drawn by natural mountain passes and fertile valleys.
The Romans use key mountain passes in the region for military and trade routes connecting Italy and eastern Europe.
Kranjska Gora is first mentioned in historical records as a small alpine settlement.
Napoleonic Wars bring the region under French control as part of the Illyrian Provinces.
After World War I, Kranjska Gora becomes part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia).
Post-World War II, the area is incorporated into socialist Yugoslavia, with tourism beginning to develop.
The first FIS Alpine Ski World Cup race is held in Kranjska Gora, establishing its reputation as a winter sports destination.
