What to visit?
History
The first written records mention Preddvor and its medieval castle, marking it as an important feudal estate in the Upper Carniola region.
Preddvor Castle is first explicitly documented, serving as a noble residence and later as a local administrative seat.
Preddvor, like much of Carniola, falls under French administration during the Napoleonic Illyrian Provinces era.
The abolition of feudalism brings social change, leading to the growth of smallholder farming and greater local autonomy.
After World War I, Preddvor becomes part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia).
Occupied by Fascist Italy during World War II, the region experiences resistance activity and post-war rebuilding.
With Slovenia's independence, Preddvor becomes an official municipality in the new republic.
Preddvor is re-established as a municipality after a period of administrative changes, gaining greater local governance.
