チリにおける最古の人類定住は紀元前約12,000年に遡り、遊牧部族がこの地域に居住していた証拠があります。
チリ最大の先住民族の一つであるマプチェ族はこの地域に定着し、豊かな文化と社会を発展させました。
チリを最初に探検したヨーロッパ人はスペインの征服者ディエゴ・デ・アルマグロで、金を求めてこの地域に到着しました。
別のスペインの征服者ペドロ・デ・バルディビアがチリの首都サンティアゴを建設し、スペイン植民地化の始まりを示しました。
チリはスペインからの独立を宣言し、1818年まで続く長い自由のための闘争を開始しました。
