Mpigi enjoys a tropical rainforest climate, with two main rainy seasons—March to May and September to November. The best time to visit is during the drier months of December to February and June to August, when outdoor activities are more accessible. Temperatures are generally warm year-round, ranging from 17°C to 28°C.
Health
Mpigi Town has clinics and health centers, but for serious medical issues, it’s best to travel to Kampala. Pharmacies are available in larger towns, but bring any necessary medications with you.
Food
Luwombo
A traditional Buganda dish of meat (often chicken or beef), groundnuts, and vegetables, all steamed in banana leaves for a rich, aromatic flavor.
Matoke
Steamed green bananas, mashed and often served with a savory sauce of meat, beans, or groundnuts; a staple food in Mpigi and central Uganda.
Nswaa (White Ants)
