Catanduanes: The Happy Island of the Philippines
Catanduanes is an enchanting island province in the Bicol Region of the Philippines, situated off the eastern coast of Luzon and surrounded by the vast Pacific Ocean. Known as the "Happy Island," Catanduanes boasts pristine beaches, dramatic coastlines, lush mountains, and roaring waves that have earned it a reputation as one of the country’s top surfing destinations. Its capital, Virac, serves as the main gateway and hub, while more remote towns like Baras and Pandan offer quieter, authentic experiences. Beyond its natural wonders, Catanduanes is rich in culture and tradition, with vibrant festivals, resilient communities, and a laid-back island vibe. The province is less commercialized than other Philippine destinations, making it ideal for travelers seeking unspoiled landscapes, eco-adventures, and warm local hospitality.
