History

2008

Atlantis, The Palm was officially opened on September 24, 2008, as a joint venture between Kerzner International Holdings Limited and Istithmar World.

Shortly before opening, a fire damaged the grand lobby, but repairs were completed on time.

The launch featured a record-setting fireworks display across the entire Palm Jumeirah.

2012

In April 2012, Istithmar World acquired full ownership by buying out Kerzner's stake.

The resort was designed by Northpoint (conceptual) and Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo (architect of record), with construction led by Laing O'Rourke.

The resort's development marked a milestone in Dubai's luxury tourism and artificial island projects.
