Customs regulations

People and nationalities

Weather
Nuevo León has a semi-arid to temperate climate, with hot summers (often exceeding 35°C/95°F) and mild, dry winters. The best time to visit is from October to April when temperatures are more comfortable and rainfall is minimal. Afternoon thunderstorms can occur in late summer, especially in the mountains.
Health
Monterrey and major towns have excellent hospitals and pharmacies. Tap water is not recommended for drinking; opt for bottled or filtered water.
Food
Cabrito
A signature dish of Nuevo León, cabrito is young goat slow-roasted over an open flame until tender and flavorful, often served with tortillas, beans, and salsa.
Machacado con Huevo
This hearty breakfast features dried, shredded beef (machaca) scrambled with eggs, onions, and tomatoes, typically enjoyed with flour tortillas.
Arrachera
Grilled marinated skirt steak, arrachera is a local favorite, served with grilled onions, nopales (cactus), and fresh salsa.
Glorias
A famous regional sweet, Glorias are creamy caramel candies made from goat’s milk and pecans, originating from Linares.
