Storia
The Museum of Toys and Play was founded in 1979 as the Museum of Toymaking, initially occupying a single room in the National Museum building in Kielce.
In 1982, it moved to a historic granary building but had to close its exhibition in 1985 due to inadequate conditions.
Temporary exhibitions were held elsewhere until 1988 when a small permanent exhibition opened in a city tenement.
In 2004, the city council allocated the historic 19th-century former market halls building at plac Wolności 2 for the museum.
After extensive renovations completed in 2005, the museum reopened there in 2006, adopting its current name and significantly expanding its exhibition space and collections.
