Originally, the area where Vijūnėlė Park and its pond now exist was a swamp.
In the early 1980s, specifically around 1983, a decision was made to excavate the swamp to create an artificial pond by damming the Vijūnėlė stream.
Due to the swampy terrain, excavators were placed on logs to access the site.
By approximately 1989, the pond was completed and a boat dock was constructed, establishing the area as a recreational spot.
Towards the end of the 20th century, a beach was installed along the pond's shore, enhancing its appeal as a leisure destination.
