History
LEGOLAND Billund was founded in the 1960s by Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, son of LEGO's founder Ole Kirk Christiansen, to promote the LEGO brand.
Opening in 1968 next to the LEGO factory, it featured the innovative Miniland area designed by sculptor Dagny Holm.
The park quickly became a success, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors in its first season.
