Tianjin Museum is the largest museum in Tianjin, China, located in the Hexi District's Yinhe Plaza. It occupies about 50,000 square meters and is renowned for its unique architectural style resembling a swan spreading its wings, designed by Japanese architect Mamoru Kawaguchi. The museum houses an extensive collection of nearly 200,000 artifacts including ancient Chinese fine arts such as calligraphy, paintings, bronzeware, ceramics, jade, seals, inkstones, Shang Dynasty oracle bones, coins, historic documents, and modern relics. The museum's exhibits highlight Tianjin's rich history and cultural development, featuring major permanent exhibitions like "The Origins of Tianjin's Humanities," "A Century of Tianjin in Modern China," and "Treasured Collections of the Museum." Among its prized holdings are nationally protected first-class relics such as the Taibao Ding, a Western Zhou dynasty bronze vessel, and the Sui Dynasty white-glazed double-gourd vase with dragon handles. The museum's design integrates symbolic elements reflecting Tianjin's 600-year-old city history, with spacious halls like the "Time Tunnel" connecting ancient, modern, and contemporary galleries. Since relocating to its current modern facility in 2012 within the Tianjin Cultural Center, it has become an iconic cultural landmark, offering visitors an immersive experience of Tianjin’s artistic and historical heritage.
