Gabrovo
The Gabrovo Regional Historical Museum is one of the oldest cultural institutions in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, with a heritage spanning over 135 years. Founded initially in 1883 as a museum within the Aprilov National High School, it evolved through the 20th century into a regional museum housing nearly 100,000 artifacts. The museum's extensive collections cover a wide historical range, including prehistoric finds from early humans in Europe, artifacts from the late antique period (4th–6th centuries), relics from the First and Second Bulgarian Empires, Ottoman era objects, and items from Bulgaria's National Revival and industrial periods. Noteworthy exhibits include the most complete set of traditional Sokai female headgear, the first grammar book by Neofit Rilski, a manicure set gifted by Tsar Ferdinand I, and the yatagan of revolutionary leader Tsanko Dyustabanov. The museum also preserves important symbols of Gabrovo's industrial heritage, such as the banner of the first princely factory "Ivan Kalpazanov" made in Vienna in 1901. Besides exhibitions, the museum hosts scientific conferences, presentations, and educational workshops, fostering cultural engagement and preservation of the Gabrovo region's history.
