Histoire
Třeboň was established around the middle of the 12th century and gained town status by 1341.
The town experienced its greatest period of development and wealth during the 14th to early 17th centuries under the rule of the Rosenberg family.
During this golden era, the famous fishpond network was engineered by Jakub Krčín.
Following a decline caused by the Thirty Years' War and several fires, the estate was acquired by the Schwarzenberg family in 1660, who held it until the 20th century.
The town's modern era began in 1883 with the opening of its first peat spa, eventually leading to its official spa town status in 1960.
