Histoire
The idea for Shanghai Disney Resort began in the early 2000s, with negotiations starting around 2001.
Development was delayed to support Hong Kong Disneyland's growth, which opened in 2005.
The project was officially approved by the Chinese government in 2009, with groundbreaking in April 2011.
Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, the resort opened in June 2016 after a construction period involving over 100,000 workers.
Since opening, the resort has expanded with new themed areas like Toy Story Land in 2018 and Zootopia in 2023.
