History
The region formed part of Dacia, which was conquered by the Romans under Emperor Trajan during the Dacian Wars.
Caraş-Severin was incorporated into the medieval Kingdom of Hungary, with fortresses built to defend the Banat region.
Following the Treaty of Passarowitz, the Banat, including Caraş-Severin, was ceded to the Habsburg Empire, leading to waves of German (Swabian) colonization.
The first blast furnace in Southeast Europe began operation in Resita, marking the start of the region’s industrial era.
