Storia

1909

The park was founded as a private estate in 1909 by Anton Kröller and Helene Kröller-Müller, who developed it as a hunting ground and art sanctuary.

1923

Construction continued until 1923, including the building of the St.

Hubertus Hunting Lodge.

1935

Financial difficulties during the 1930s led to the donation of the Kröller-Müller art collection to the Dutch state in 1935, which then established the Kröller-Müller Museum within the park.

The estate became the second national park in the Netherlands and remains privately owned, uniquely requiring an entrance fee.

During World War II, parts of the park were requisitioned for military use, reducing its size temporarily.
