The Viaduct of Veszprém, locally known as Szent István völgyhíd or simply the Viaduct, is a monumental reinforced concrete arch bridge spanning the valley of the Séd stream. Designed by renowned engineer Róbert Folly and completed in 1937, it connects the Jeruzsálemhegy and Temetőhegy districts of Veszprém. The bridge features three arches, including one large central arch with a 46-meter span and two smaller side arches of 26.6 meters each, with a total length of 185 meters and a maximum height of 37 meters. For nearly fifty years, it served as part of the national main road No. 8, facilitating traffic through the city and towards Herend. Today, it primarily supports local traffic between Veszprém neighborhoods. Its unique structural design and elevated position offer visitors beautiful panoramic views over the Castle District, the Séd valley, and the distant Bakony Mountains. The viaduct is a city emblem, appearing in logos of local institutions and businesses. A viewing terrace with steps leads down to the valley, making it a popular spot for sightseeing and photography. The bridge's construction was a significant engineering achievement of its time, carefully designed to withstand stresses and anchored on solid rock foundations, ensuring its stability and longevity. The Viaduct remains a cherished landmark and an architectural symbol of Veszprém.

Later names included Veszprémi Völgyhíd and Rákosi Mátyás Völgyhíd during the communist era.

1956

After the 1956 revolution, it became popularly known simply as the Viadukt.

1988

In 1988, the city council restored its original name with modern Hungarian spelling.
