Storia

1788

Paradise Peak has long been recognized as the highest point on Saint Martin, with its name deriving from its historical association with a sugar plantation called Paradis that existed on its western slope from 1788 to 1866.

The area remained largely forested until the late 20th century when residential developments began near the summit, initiated by local leadership in the late 1970s.

Over time, the summit area underwent deforestation to accommodate telecommunications infrastructure such as radio and TV antennas.

Despite these changes, the peak has retained much of its natural character and remains an important ecological site.
