Histoire
The development was originally known as Orchard Turn Development and was built on a former park site above Orchard MRT station.
Its official name, ION Orchard, was announced in 2007, with the mall opening in July 2009 and the residential component, The Orchard Residences, completed in 2010.
The construction involved the demolition of an MRT station exit to accommodate the new development.
The project was a joint venture between CapitaLand and Sun Hung Kai Properties and has since become one of Singapore's top shopping destinations, recognized by Forbes in 2016.
