Histoire
Universeum was inaugurated on June 8, 2001, as a collaborative initiative between the Gothenburg Region Association of Local Authorities, Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg, and the West Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
Designed by architect Gert Wingårdh, the center was created to promote science education and public engagement with technology and nature.
In 2021, Universeum expanded with the addition of the 'visualization dome' (Wisdome), also designed by Wingårdh's firm, enhancing its interactive and immersive offerings.
Over two decades, Universeum has grown into a key educational and cultural institution in Gothenburg, continuously updating its exhibitions to reflect advances in science and sustainability.
