Histoire
The Umeå Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1987 and initially operated in a renovated wood processing factory building designed by Sigge Cronstedt in 1909.
This building was part of Umeå's first major industry, which ran until 1954.
In 2012, the academy relocated to newly constructed facilities at the Umeå Arts Campus, which brought together several artistic disciplines.
The former factory building was repurposed into Sliperiet, a creative incubator and meeting place for artistic projects.
