The museum's collection includes approximately 1,000 paintings and sculptures, alongside 5,000 graphic works dating from the 1600s onwards, with an emphasis on modern Swedish art. It also manages the municipality's extensive deposit art collection of over 5,000 works. The museum hosts the Swedish Children's Book Archive since 2007, adding a unique dimension to its cultural offerings. Notable figures in its history include architect Frej Klemming, who led the original conversion, and notable museum directors such as Göran M. Silfverstolpe and Madelene Unneberg. The museum's location in a repurposed industrial site highlights Eskilstuna's rich industrial heritage while providing a vibrant space for contemporary art appreciation.
