Sölvesborg Bridge, completed in late 2012 and officially opened in May 2013, is a remarkable 760-meter long pedestrian and cycle bridge spanning Sölvesborgsviken in Blekinge, Sweden. The bridge features a distinctive arch design with three large arches rising 17 meters high, connecting the center of Sölvesborg to the islands of Kaninholmen and Lindholmen, and further to the district of Ljungaviken. Constructed mainly from 600 tons of nearly rust-free steel (LDX2101 duplex material) and reinforced concrete, the bridge is both visually striking and built for longevity with minimal maintenance. It has become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, offering four viewing platforms for enjoying the surrounding bay, opportunities for fishing, cycling, and leisurely walks. The bridge's elegant arches echo the architectural style of nearby historic buildings such as Gunnar Asplund's courthouse and the railway station, integrating cultural heritage with modern design. Its energy-efficient LED lighting enhances its nighttime allure, making it a vibrant social spot and a symbol of connectivity that has fostered urban development in the adjacent Ljungaviken neighborhood. Recognized internationally, CNN named Sölvesborg Bridge among the 11 most spectacular bridges worldwide in 2016.
