Histoire
The Old Foundry building was constructed between 1851 and 1853 on the right bank of the Lepenica River, making it the oldest preserved part of the military factory and the military artisan school in the Principality of Serbia.
The necessity for an artillery foundry arose early during the First and Second Serbian Uprisings due to the urgent need for weapons and military supplies.
Initially established in Belgrade in 1848, the foundry was relocated to Kragujevac in 1851 by the decision of Prince Alexander Karađorđević and on the proposal of Ilija Garašanin.
