Histoire
The museum was originally founded on July 12, 1946, as the Museum of the 1941 Uprising.
In 1963, it was reorganized as the People's Museum by merging the Museum of the Uprising and the Regional Museum.
In 1979, it took over management of the Kadinjača Memorial Complex, a significant World War II site.
Between 1991 and 2002, the Kadinjača monument operated independently before rejoining the museum.
Over the decades, the museum has expanded its collections and facilities, receiving notable awards such as the Vuk Award and the Mihailo Valtrović Award for its cultural contributions.
