Histoire
Łazienki Park originated from a medieval hunting ground owned by Mazovian princes.
In the late 17th century, Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski built two pavilions, including the bathhouse that later became the Palace on the Isle.
King Stanisław August Poniatowski acquired the estate in 1764 and began transforming it into a royal summer residence with an English-style landscaped park from 1774.
After the king's death in 1798, the property changed hands multiple times, including ownership by Józef Poniatowski and later Russian authorities.
The park was expanded and modified throughout the 19th century, and since 1960 it has housed the Museum of Łazienki Królewskie, preserving its cultural and historical heritage.
