Histoire

1594

Historically, Mill Island was composed of three parts: the northern section, which was removed during the construction of the Bydgoszcz Canal in the late 18th century; the central western part forming the main island today; and the eastern 'mint' island, home to one of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth's most significant mints from 1594 to 1688.

1621

The mint produced coins renowned across Europe, including some of the most impressive numismatic pieces struck in 1621.

2007

The Międzywodzie channel, which once separated the eastern and western parts, was filled in during the 20th century but restored as a cascading water feature in 2007.

Over centuries, Mill Island evolved from an industrial and minting center into a cultural and recreational area, preserving its historical architecture alongside modern amenities.
