Parque de la Reserva
Lima
Parque de la Reserva is a historic urban park located in downtown Lima, Peru, spanning eight hectares and designed in a neo-classical style by French architect Claude Sahut. Established between major city avenues, it features numerous sculptures by Peruvian artists and honors reservist soldiers from the War of the Pacific. The park's highlight is the Magic Water Circuit, inaugurated in 2007, which holds the world record for the largest fountain complex in a public park, comprising 13 interactive and illuminated fountains synchronized with music and light shows. Notable fountains include the Magic Fountain with jets reaching over 80 meters, the Tunnel Fountain of Surprises, and the Fantasia Fountain known for its laser and picture shows. The park also includes the Casa Sabogal, designed by painter José Sabogal, and a recently added butterfly dome enhancing its recreational and educational offerings. Despite initial criticism over costs and entrance fees, the park has become a symbol of public space revitalization in Lima and a major tourist attraction.
