History

1985

Tyholttårnet was constructed and inaugurated on May 22, 1985, as a modern telecommunications tower to support television, radio, and digital audio broadcasting.

1964

Prior to its construction, the Tyholt area was primarily residential and part of the former Strinda Municipality until 1964.

Over time, the tower became a notable landmark and popular tourist destination in Trondheim.

1997

In 1997, an artistic facade was added to commemorate Trondheim's city jubilee, though it was removed in 2013.

2016

Ownership changed in 2016 when the tower was sold to real estate investor Karl Johan Kopreitan.
