Histoire
Avonturenpark Hellendoorn began in 1936 when Jan Van den Berg opened a tea house with playground facilities on the Hellendoornse Berg.
Originally called Ons Ideaal, it was renamed Ontspanningsoord De Elf Provinciën two years later as more play equipment and restaurant facilities were added.
In the late 1940s and 1950s, the park expanded with features like a labyrinth and a fairy tale garden.
The 1970s marked the addition of the first major rides, including the monorail and the first roller coaster, Avonturenslang, in 1978.
The park was then renamed Avonturenpark Hellendoorn.
During the 1980s and 1990s, the park continued to grow with new rides such as the Wild Waterval log flume and the Tornado steel coaster, one of the first Dutch Vekoma coasters with inversions.
Ownership changed hands several times in the 2000s, eventually becoming part of the French Compagnie des Alpes group.
Throughout its history, the park has balanced expansion with maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere in a natural setting.
