Histoire

The Upper Reka region, where Golema Reka Waterfall is located, has a rich historical background dating back to the 14th century when it was part of the Lordship of Prilep under the Mrnjavčević family.

1395

In 1395, the territory fell under Ottoman rule until the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913.

Subsequently, it became part of the Kingdom of Serbia, then the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, followed by the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and now belongs to North Macedonia.

Over centuries, the region has experienced demographic changes, with migrations influencing the cultural and ethnic composition of its inhabitants.

Despite depopulation trends, the area maintains its traditional agricultural and pastoral lifestyle, shaped by its mountainous geography.
