Histoire
The Horse Museum was founded in 1978 following the initiative of professor Petras Vasinauskas and local agricultural leaders.
It began with the collection of horse-related artifacts from across Lithuania, initially housed in two barns and a former school building.
Over the years, the museum expanded to include a forge in 1987, a traditional Aukštaitija homestead in 1993, and a dedicated exhibition on horse history in 1996.
In 2000, a collection of woodcarvings by Jurgis Kazlauskas was added.
The museum evolved into a center for preserving Lithuanian equestrian culture and traditional crafts, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
