Venaria Reale, located in Piedmont near Turin, is one of the grandest Baroque royal residences in Italy. Designed by architect Amedeo di Castellamonte and commissioned by Duke Carlo Emanuele II in the mid-17th century, it served as a lavish hunting lodge and symbol of Savoyard power. The palace complex was later expanded by renowned architects including Filippo Juvarra and Benedetto Alfieri, who contributed to its majestic galleries, chapels, and stables. Its extensive gardens, redesigned over centuries, feature the famous Labyrinth and elegant formal layouts. The palace endured damage during French wars and Napoleonic occupation, when it was repurposed as a military barracks and equestrian school. Restored in recent decades, Venaria Reale now attracts over a million visitors annually and was awarded three stars by the Michelin Guide. Its architectural splendor, rich history, and beautifully maintained gardens make it a unique cultural and historical attraction in Piedmont.
