The sculpture measures approximately 9 meters in length and 1.8 meters in height, standing on a circle of granite slabs surrounded by concrete. It was unveiled on August 18, 1990, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Reykjavík. The engineering and construction were carefully supervised to ensure quality and durability, reflecting the artist's vision. Sun Voyager is a beloved landmark offering visitors a photogenic spot with views over the ocean and mountains, embodying Iceland's connection to the sea and exploration. Replicas of the sculpture are also available for purchase in various sizes, continuing the legacy of this inspiring work.
