Histoire
Aviva Stadium was constructed on the site of the historic Lansdowne Road Stadium, which was demolished in 2007.
The redevelopment was initiated after earlier stadium projects in Ireland were cancelled.
The new stadium officially opened on 14 May 2010, with a naming rights deal secured by Aviva Group Ireland initially for ten years, later extended until 2030.
Since its opening, the stadium has hosted numerous major sporting events, including international rugby and football matches, as well as UEFA finals.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was repurposed as a testing center by the Irish Army.
The stadium is jointly owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union and the Football Association of Ireland under a 60-year lease agreement.
