Histoire
The concept of TMII was conceived by First Lady Siti Hartinah (Tien Suharto) in 1970 to foster national pride by showcasing Indonesia's cultural diversity.
Construction began in 1972 on a former agricultural area, transforming it into a hilly landscape suitable for diverse exhibits.
TMII was officially inaugurated on April 20, 1975, under the management of the Harapan Kita Foundation, linked to the Suharto family.
Over the decades, the park expanded to include numerous pavilions, museums, and recreational facilities.
In 2021, management shifted to InJourney, a state-owned tourism company.
Starting in 2022, TMII underwent major revitalization to restore its original vision and improve environmental sustainability, culminating in a reopening and inauguration in late 2022 and 2023 respectively.
