Histoire
The museum's origins trace back to a 1914 exhibition of wooden toys and folk art organized by priest Hermann Härtel and the local trade association.
In 1920, the first official toy museum opened in the State Trade Training School, showcasing collections by Alwin Seifert and Härtel.
After interruptions and expansions, the current museum was established in 1953 as the Local History and Toy Museum, later renamed the Ore Mountains Toy Museum.
In 1973, the adjacent Open-Air Museum was added, and a major renovation in 1999 expanded the exhibits and facilities to three floors with around 5,000 items.
