Histoire
The foundation of Universum Bremen was laid in 1996 by professors from the University of Bremen, with project development involving the Stiftung Universum GmbH and various partners.
After approximately one and a half years of construction, the museum opened in September 2000 with a 4,000 m² main exhibition building.
In 2007, the museum expanded to include a new special exhibitions building and a large outdoor area.
Initially operated privately by Universum Managementges.
mbH, the city of Bremen took over management in 2013, leading to modernization and a reorganization of the exhibitions into the themes of mankind, nature, and technology.
