Histoire
The Jingyuetan Reservoir was constructed between 1934 and 1936 during the Manchukuo era to serve as a water source for the then capital city, Xinjiang Special City (now Changchun).
The reservoir's crescent shape inspired the name "Jingyuetan," meaning "Pure Moon Lake." Alongside the dam construction, reforestation efforts began to prevent soil erosion and study artificial forest ecosystems.
Over several decades, these efforts created a large-scale artificial forest cluster covering over 80 square kilometers.
The area evolved into a nationally recognized forest park and ecological demonstration zone, gaining 5A tourist status in China.
