Histoire
Originally known as Mount Lingyang during the Han dynasty and later Mount Jiuzi, the mountain was renamed Mount Jiuhua inspired by a Tang dynasty poem by Li Bai.
In 719 AD, the Silla prince Kim Qiaoque arrived and was revered as an incarnation of Dizang Bodhisattva after his death.
The mountain flourished as a Buddhist center during the Ming and Qing dynasties, hosting hundreds of temples and thousands of monks.
