Histoire

2001

The concept for Lugano Arte e Cultura originated from a 2001 architectural competition involving 130 firms, eventually won by Ivano Gianola.

2015

The centre officially opened on 12 September 2015, under the direction of Michel Gagnon, formerly of Montreal's Place des Arts.

2020

Since its inauguration, LAC has become a cornerstone for cultural activities in Ticino, evolving to include redesigned foyer spaces in 2020 by the Zurich-based firm grillovasiu.

It has hosted numerous significant exhibitions and performances, establishing itself as a modern cultural landmark in the region.
