Histoire
Tourism in Melchsee-Frutt began in 1936 with the installation of the first gondola lift by Otto Reinhart, featuring two cabins each holding four passengers.
In 1945, the cabins were upgraded to accommodate eight passengers.
By 1956, a new gondola with two 33-passenger cabins was built to handle increased tourist numbers.
The 1976 upgrade further increased capacity to 750 passengers per hour.
The current gondola, inaugurated in December 2012, doubled capacity to 1325 passengers per hour and halved travel time.
These upgrades reflect the resort's steady growth and modernization over nearly a century.
