Saskatchewan
Remai Modern is a leading public art museum located on the west bank of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Opened in 2017, it showcases over 8,000 works from Canadian and international artists, including the world's most comprehensive collection of Picasso linocuts and ceramics. The museum's striking 11,582-square-metre building was designed by Bruce Kuwabara of KPMB Architects in collaboration with Architecture49, blending modern architectural aesthetics with functional gallery spaces. Remai Modern evolved from the former Mendel Art Gallery's collection but represents a fresh institution dedicated exclusively to modern and contemporary art. The museum hosts a dynamic program of exhibitions, including both permanent and traveling shows, alongside educational programs and community events. Its location at River Landing offers visitors scenic views and easy access within Saskatoon's central business district. The museum also fosters creativity through art camps and workshops, making it a cultural hub for all ages. Its innovative branding and commitment to contemporary art have made it a landmark institution in Canada’s cultural landscape.
