Histoire

Originally inhabited by the Manáos indigenous people, the area of Ponta Negra gave rise to the name of the city of Manaus.

During the 1990s, a leisure complex was constructed to modernize about 2 km of the Rio Negro waterfront, including sports courts and bars.

However, lack of maintenance led to deterioration until a major renovation in the mid-2000s under Mayor Amazonino Mendes revitalized the area with new promenades, an amphitheater, viewing platforms, and fountains with LED lighting and music.

This redevelopment transformed Ponta Negra into a key urban leisure and cultural hub in Manaus.
