The Flame Towers are a trio of striking skyscrapers located in Baku, Azerbaijan, designed to resemble flames and symbolize the country's historical nickname, 'The Land of Fire.' Completed in 2012, the tallest tower reaches 182 meters and together the three towers house residential apartments, a luxury Fairmont hotel, and office spaces. The architecture reflects Azerbaijan's natural heritage linked to fire worship and natural gas flares, notably referencing sites like the Ateshgah of Baku and Yanar Dag. The towers are fully clad in LED screens that create dynamic light shows visible throughout Baku, displaying flames, national colors, and symbolic imagery. Their modern design and illumination have made them a prominent city landmark and cultural icon, featured in international media such as the Discovery Channel and Eurovision Song Contest broadcasts. Despite their prominence, some critiques note that only the hotel tower is actively used while the others remain largely unoccupied, highlighting a complex urban narrative behind the development.
