Therme Loipersdorf is a large thermal spa complex located in the municipality of Bad Loipersdorf in Styria's Thermen- und Vulkanland region. Discovered accidentally in 1972 during oil exploration, the site revealed a rich thermal water source heated by underground CO2 layers, with temperatures reaching around 60 degrees Celsius. Since its inception, the spa has developed into a comprehensive resort spanning 36,000 m², divided into three main areas: the Erlebniswelt featuring water slides, wave pools, and a sandy beach; the Schaffelbad, a quiet zone with Roman-style pools and saunas; and the Thermalwelt, offering a sauna village, warm and cold pools, and a Roman steam bath. The resort combines wellness, adventure, and nature, catering to families, couples, and relaxation seekers alike. Architecturally, the facility was designed following a competition won by the Graz firm Ilgerl-Peneff-Walch, blending modern spa amenities with natural surroundings. Over the decades, Therme Loipersdorf has expanded its offerings to include extensive sauna landscapes, therapy areas, and exclusive wellness zones, making it one of Austria's leading thermal destinations.
