Familypark began in 1968 as a small fairy tale forest created by Erwin MĂĽller, who moved to St.
Margarethen in 1965.
Initially located elsewhere, the park moved to its current site after the lease ended.
Over the decades, the park expanded from a modest 1,500 m² to approximately 145,000 m², adding a petting zoo in 1970 and later incorporating rides in the early 1990s.
The park underwent several name changes, reflecting its growth, from Märchenwald to Märchenpark Neusiedlersee, and finally Familypark in 2010.
In 2019, ownership transferred to the French Compagnie des Alpes, which has since introduced new attractions including Austria's largest log flume ride, the Biberburg, in 2022.
