Che Guevara Museum
Córdoba
The Che Guevara Museum, located in Alta Gracia, Córdoba, Argentina, is housed in the historic Villa Nydia, the childhood home of Ernesto Guevara from 1932 to 1943. The museum offers a deep tribute to the life and legacy of the Marxist revolutionary by showcasing ten rooms filled with personal belongings, photographs, and memorabilia. Among the most notable exhibits are Guevara's original bicycle from his first extensive Latin American trip and a motorcycle model identical to the one he used on his second journey. The museum provides insight into Guevara’s early years, his family environment, and the development of his political consciousness. The house itself is a valuable example of early 20th-century residential architecture typical of the region, known locally as "Chalet de chapa," featuring zinc roofs, ironwork, and eclectic facades. The museum was established in 2001 after the municipal government declared Villa Nydia a heritage site and opened it to the public. It attracts visitors who wish to understand the formative years of one of Latin America's most iconic figures and to explore the personal context behind his revolutionary path.
