History
The Taling Chan area, where Khlong Lat Mayom is located, was historically fertile land with abundant waterways during the Ayutthaya period, fostering a gardener culture with raised-bed gardens to adapt to seasonal changes.
Over time, urban development and environmental degradation in the 1990s threatened the traditional waterside lifestyle, leading villagers to abandon farming.
In response, community leader Chuan Chuchan initiated efforts to clean and preserve the canal and its surroundings.
This evolved into the creation of the floating market in 2004 as a sustainable way to maintain the community's connection to the canal and revive local livelihoods.
